Should I Rely on a Forex Indicator?

Some of the major questions being asked by active forex traders include ‘is this the right time to place trade’, ‘which entry points are good for my trades’ or ‘is market overpriced’? Forex trading would become much easier and profit-oriented, if one would know the accurate answers to these questions. While it may sound really difficult to accurately predict the forthcoming market conditions, there are still ways you could accurately determine the present and expected trends of the forex market. Yes, you got it right. We’re talking about the forex indicators.

Forex indicators, especially technical analysis includes the study of chart patterns, oscillators, moving averages and other technical indicators that can help you make a right trading decision. Traders well acquainted with these indicators can better understand market psychology and predict price changes.

Technical indicators are widely used by forex and equity traders who’re looking to determine the short-term and long-term market trends. The importance and use of forex indicators has gained momentum in recent years. Present-day traders are knowledgeable and want to invest in every possible thing that can help them play safe in the forex world. So, should you rely on a forex indicator to get ahead of your forex game? Let’s explore.

Not Completely, But They Help

Forex trading is unpredictable and fluctuating and to cope up with such fluctuating transactions you obviously cannot rely on a single forex tool. It wouldn’t be correct if we say that you must acquire technical indicators and just leave all other things behind to enjoy 100% results in no time. But, there is no denying the fact that forex indicators are a proven way that has helped hundreds of traders get hold of their forex trades and earn profits.

Newbies and beginners especially are always on the lookout for useful forex tools and resources that can help them better understand market basics and trends so that they can grab the most profitable market opportunities without risking their investment. In fact, if you have just started out, you can definitely rely on best forex indicators to optimize profits and reduce the chances of loss.

Indicators Can Point You in the Right Direction

Whether its price change or everyday chart patterns, indicators can provide all the needed information a trader needs to move forward. When you have a clear direction in front of you, you can obviously make better and profitable decisions that will eventually lead to consistent trading results.

Also, forex indicators can provide you with exact trade targets that can help you pick the most profitable trading opportunities currently available on the market. Since liquidity is one of the most prominent factors that add to the element of uncertainty, acquiring information regarding different currency pairs and their past and present performance is crucial for future direction.

For example, if you’re working with a scalping trading strategy, you can use oscillators to examine present market fluctuations. In the same manner, moving averages are best when you want to invest in the opportunities that are most stable in terms of price.

Lastly, technical indicators provide early signals and can help traders predict the right time to enter and exit a trade. The primary purpose of designing these indicators is to augment the win ratio which can ensure better returns in high-risk environment.

We Don’t Rely on a Single Tool Completely

Being a trader, it’s your utmost responsibility to research the best possible tools to increase your chances of success in the forex world. While technical indicators are very useful, you should still don’t rely on them completely for your trades. Make sure you do research on current market trends, use different tools or if possible invest in a forex robot to streamline your trading procedures. Sure, you can get help from technical indicators and can use them as a guideline to make decision, but diversify your approach to get the most out of your trades.

Indicators Help, and are Very Helpful for Many Reasons

Forex indicators are designed by professional traders with knack of forex proficiency and mathematical calculations. Forex indicators mainly depend on recognizing common trends and patterns, finding those trends again and combining them into your trades. But obviously, that doesn’t necessarily mean that what happened earlier will exactly be repeated in the future. Many times traders simply pick currency pairs based on their past performance but forex indicators are tools that don’t pay heed to human emotions like greed and fear and provide you with the most relevant and reliable market information that you can use to make profitable trading decisions.

Conclusion

Forex indicators are very useful for both novice and seasoned traders. They provide you with the most recent market knowledge and you can interpret these trends with the help of charts and patterns. A little know-how about reading/translating those charts is a must though. Also, be certain to pick the right set of indicators for your trades that complements your trading style.

FedEx Corporation’s Philosophy Employees First, Customers Second, and Shareholders Third

By M.S. Rao

“Much of our success reflects what I learned as a Marine. The basic principles of leading people are the bedrock of the Corps. I can still recite them from memory, and they are firmly embedded in the FedEx culture. We teach them daily in our own Leadership Institute, which turns out the thousands of managers needed to run our operating companies.”– Frederick W. Smith, CEO, FedEx

There are several generational cohorts globally based on the duration of their birth. Currently, there are four generations in the workplace. They are The Silent Generation (born the mid-1920s to early 1940s); Baby Boomers (born early 1940s to early 1960s); Generation X (born early 1960s to early 1980s); Millennials who are also referred with different names including Generation Y (born early 1980s to early 2000s).

The Silent Generation, also known as the Greatest Generation, Veterans, Traditionalists, the Mature Generation or “The Lucky Few” are logical, conservative, conformist, and historical. They are loyal to their organizations and respect rules, follow the hierarchy and crave for job security. Baby Boomers are hard workers and willing to work long hours. They are driven for upward mobility, and are less comfortable with rapid growth in technology. They care for their parents and children. Generation X, also known as Baby Busters value freedom, and are flexible and adaptable. They are latchkey kids, skeptical and ironic. They are task-oriented and comfortable in job-hopping. Millennials are impatient to achieve their goals and objectives. They crave for recognition and look for challenging roles and responsibilities. Their self-esteem is high, and their personal, professional and social lives are merged with smartphones.

Frederick W. Smith – A Traditionalist

When you look at famous people including Martin Luther King, Jr., Queen Elizabeth II, Sandra Day O’Connor, Miles Davis, Mikhail Gorbachev, Bob Dylan, John McCain and Fred Smith, they all belong to The Traditionalists. The Traditionalists are known as The Silent Generation because the children born between 1922 and 1946 worked hard and kept quiet.

Frederick W. Smith is the Chairman, President and CEO of FedEx Corporation that is headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born on August 11, 1944 in the United States. Hence, he falls in the generational cohort of Traditionalists. He is a successful CEO with a military background. He is a decorated U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran who served as an officer from 1966 to 1970. He founded FedEx in 1971 and has grown it into a $43 billion company. He is a risk taker who goes by his gut and intuition. His military training has taught him several leadership skills and abilities. He said, “The Marine Corps is the best when it comes to teaching people how to lead other folks.” There are other iconic CEOs with military background such as Daniel Akerson of General Motors; Alex Gorsky of Johnson & Johnson; Robert A. McDonald of Proctor and Gamble; Robert Myers of Casey’s General Store; James A. Skinner of Walgreens; Herb Vest of H.D. Vest; Richard Kinder of Kinder Morgan; Ken Hicks of FootLocker; Sumner Redstone of Viacom; Clayton M. Jones of Rockwell Collins; Tom Dent of Lumetra; Lowell McAdam of Verizon; James Mulva of ConocoPhillips; and Robert J. Stevens of Lockheed Martin.

Employees First, Customers Second, and Shareholders Third

“Our ‘People, Service, Profit’ philosophy insists that our people be treated fairly. If we give good service and we come up with a reasonable profit, we make that a good deal for our employees, with profit sharing, promotions, complaint procedures. If you spend any time looking at the culture of FedEx you’ll find that PSP philosophy is the foundation of everything else.” – Frederick W. Smith, CEO, FedEx

Fred Smith keeps people before profit. His leadership philosophy is people-service-profit. For instance, during the 1990s, when UPS workers went on strike, thousands of FedEx employees worked numerous hours to process the additional 800,000 packages that flooded into FedEx centers. Fred Smith1 rewarded his employees with special bonuses while taking out full-page newspaper ads to thank them for their hard work. He followed the philosophy of ‘employees first, customers second, and shareholders third’ much before the philosophy came into vogue. It clearly indicates that he is a visionary leader who could see the invisible well ahead of times and technologies. Here are some leadership lessons you must learn from Fred Smith.

Fred Smith–Leadership Lessons

“I do not believe I could have built FedEx without the skills I learned from the Marine Corps.” –Frederick W. Smith, CEO, FedEx

Follow Your Passions: He followed his passion to be a US Marine and subsequently followed his passion to found his own company. He rightly remarked, “You’ve got to enjoy what you’re doing, and have some fun, and be able to laugh at yourself a bit.”

Walk Your Talk: He set an example for others to follow. He practiced whatever he preached. There is no chasm between his words and deeds.

Build Trust: He built trust and encouraged transparency to carry all the stakeholders.

Be a Good Listener: A good leader is a good listener. He is a good listener and speaker.

Emphasize Organizational Culture: He strove for excellence and emphasized organizational culture. He remarked, “We have a culture that allows us to change without threatening the people that work at the company.” His employees have the Purple Promise in which they declare, “I will make every FedEx experience outstanding.”

Build a Strong Team: He built a strong and successful team.

Emphasize Excellence: He continuously innovated and improved his services. He acquired it from his military experience.

Empower Others: He built a strong team and empowered them to make their decisions.

Be a Risk Taker: He took risks in his business life. He gambled to raise finances to fund his ailing company which is an incredible turnaround story to many people globally.

Be Part of the Solutions, not Problems: He explores solutions rather than to brood over the problems. He inculcated this great trait from his military training.

Be Simple and Humble: Fred’s leadership principles and practices are simple, and his attitude toward people is humble. He once remarked, “People say leadership is complicated. But there’s no mystery about leadership.”

Believe in Shared Leadership: He involved others to be an integral part of decision-making and encouraged the participative leadership style.

Be a Voracious Leader. He is a voracious reader who invests his time in reading books. He read lots of books on history, generals, presidents and famous people. The book that inspired him was Death Be Not Proud. It was about a young boy who had a brain tumor and how he handled it. And the book that influenced him was the biography of General Lee. He recommends the book, Modern Times by Paul Johnson for millennials, and the books authored by David Halberstam for all generations.

Fred Smith’s Entrepreneurial Highs and Lows

“Fear of failure must never be a reason not to try something.” – Frederick W. Smith, CEO, FedEx

Fred Smith’s entrepreneurial journey has not been a cakewalk. He encountered several highs and lows while running his company. Initially he incurred losses in his business. He went to the blackjack tables in Vegas, won $27,000, and wired back to FedEx to keep his business afloat. Currently, the company2 sends more than 12 million packages on a typical business day, employing 640 airplanes, 100,000 vehicles and 400,000 people. Hence, entrepreneurship is for brave hearted, not for fainthearted.

Does Military Training Make Better Leaders?

“My four years in the Marine Corps left me with an indelible understanding of the value of leadership skills.” – Frederick W. Smith, CEO, FedEx

The military training equips soldiers with several qualities such as leadership, emotional intelligence, team building, communication skills, tenacity, resilience, confidence, adaptability, fraternity and honesty. Soldiers excel as strong leaders since they work under grueling conditions. In fact, testing times make them tough leaders. They are filled with energy and enthusiasm with a heart to serve others. They are strategic thinkers, trustworthy, risk takers, learn lessons from failures, and motivate others when there is no light at the end of the tunnel. They are highly focused on hitting the bull’s eye. However, military leaders must develop the flexibility to adjust to civilians. They are honest and straightforward but often lack tact and diplomacy.

Soldiers can work under pressure. They are resourceful and work with what they have and from where they are. They lead by example and take care of their people. They are highly disciplined, dedicated, prompt and punctual. They maintain an elegant dress code. Fred Smith once remarked, “Even in a blue pin-striped suit, I still make sure that the right-hand edge of my belt buckle lines up with my shirt front and trouser fly. I shine my own shoes, and I feel uncomfortable if they aren’t polished.”

Research shows that companies with military trained CEOs commit corporate frauds much lesser than their counterparts with civilian backgrounds. The Korn/Ferry research shows that CEOs with military experience deliver better performance and have longer tenures.

The soldiers look for similarities, not differences. They believe in fraternity and equality. They are fair and just. They are good time managers and smart in making decisions quickly in spite of inadequate information. They are competent to handle volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA) successfully. They are bold to encounter organizational challenges and elegant in overcoming them effectively. Those who made use of their military background succeeded as leaders and CEOs.

Research shows that companies with military trained CEOs commit corporate frauds much lesser than their counterparts with civilian backgrounds. The Korn/Ferry research shows that CEOs with military experience deliver better performance and have longer tenures. Here are some observations:

Clayton Jones, CEO of Rockwell Collins notes, “At a very young age, you get a chance to be in leadership positions of significant magnitude. You become comfortable in a leadership role.”

The late Michael H. Jordan3, who served as Navy lieutenant and was a former CEO of Electronic Data Systems, commented in the report: “What the military is really good at doing is teaching you to plan and program. The essence of being an officer is to figure out how to deploy forces and resources to get something done. From a management standpoint, that is one of the really great lessons.”

Military Training Emphasizes Transferable Skills

Military training teaches beyond domain skills such as conceptual skills and human skills. Soldiers turn out to be the jack of all trades and master of their domains. They are equipped with transferable skills which are crucial to succeed irrespective of the industry and in civilian life. However, most of them don’t get adjusted quickly with civilian life. Hence, they must develop the flexibility to jell with civilian society to succeed as professionals and leaders.

From Battlefield to Boardroom

It is often observed that CEOs with civilian background emphasize on “ends” whereas the CEOs with military background emphasize “means.” Although we cannot conclude that the CEOs with military background alone will succeed, the fact is that the military background is definitely an asset. Hence, the success rate of leaders and CEOs with a military background is certainly higher because they build trust in others and stick to their commitments. Additionally, their confidence and communication help them stand out from others. Dr. Irwin Mark Jacobs, founding chairman and CEO emeritus for Qualcomm once remarked, “A great leader must lead by example, not by fiat. He or she must set an example of integrity, of openness to new ideas, of understanding details as well as the larger picture, of communicating well, and of not shooting the messenger when a problem arises but helping find a solution.” Most military leaders possess these qualities to excel as successful leaders and CEOs.

Conclusion

“Leadership is simply the ability of an individual to coalesce the efforts of other individuals toward achieving common goals. It boils down to looking after your people and ensuring that, from top to bottom, everyone feels part of the team.” – Frederick W. Smith, CEO, FedEx

Fred Smith is a charismatic and visionary leader with tenacity and resilience. He is a philanthropist who added immense value through corporate giving. He is an inspiring example for leaders from civilian and military background cutting across generational cohorts. He is an ideal leader to be emulated by others globally.

China is Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind

By Peter Koenig

“China’s 70-Years Development and the Construction of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind”. This is the title of an International Conference, organized by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) which I was privileged to attend from 5-7 November 2019 in Shanghai. It is a reflection on China’s Anniversary of 70 years Revolution, her most remarkable achievements, with a joint look into the future – the future of China, linking up with the rest of the world. The “link” was clearly presented and seen as the New Silk Road, President Xi Jinping’s “bridge-building” Belt and Road Initiative. Representatives from over 140 countries and international organizations presented their vision on how they might cooperate with China for a shared future. The result is a rich palette of ideas and potential opportunities for cooperation.

Members of the Chinese Leadership had these words to open the International Forum: “The year 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The achievements of China’s development over the past 70 years show that we must remain committed to the path of peaceful development and pursue a mutually beneficial strategy of opening up. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China has made positive contributions to promoting global openness, connectivity, mutual benefit and common development, and has played an important role for the world peace and stability. At present, in order to cope with the uncertainty in globalization, we should positively explore ways to construct an open world economy, elaborate measures to build consensus among international community, and provide intellectual support for building of the community with a shared future for mankind.”

The conference was extremely constructive by all contributions, presenting ideas in pursuit of harmonious “win-win” situations in cooperation with China. This is precisely the concept behind China’s drive for building bridges between countries and designing joint ventures; no coercion, no subjugation – they have to be equally beneficial for all partners. This is the secret to harmony and to a peaceful coexistence. This concept follows the thousands of years old teachings of Tao – which are still, and will remain – China’s philosophy in directing her foreign policy.

In that sense, one may have observed that the often-brutal challenges that China is facing from the United States in particular and the west in general, got a bit short-changed in the discussions. Participants did not want to harp on the negative “encounters” that China is confronting – almost permanent aggressions, a smear campaign, false accusations, conflict provocations, sanctions in the form of trade and tariffs; in short, an emerging ever-growing economic war. While not to focus on adversity is a positive omen, yet, it presents the myriad of good ideas under a veil of a dreamlike reality.

What the west does not understand, does not want to understand, is that China follows a non-aggression policy.

Clearly though, China’s ever-peaceful search for harmony instead of hostility, will give her the upper hand, eventually, avoiding violent confrontation. What the west does not understand, does not want to understand, is that China follows a non-aggression policy – and yes, I’m repeating myself – emanating from the ancient, thousands of year-old Tao philosophy of harmony and peace.

The “Shared Future for Mankind” Forum run in parallel with the giant 2019 Chinese International Import Expo (CIIE), also in Shanghai, where about 67 countries were exhibiting their key export goods. In total, 180 countries and regional, as well as international organizations, 3,800 enterprises and 250 corporations of the Forbe’s 500 list were participating. The Expo had a wide range of products and gadgets to offer, from watches to drones, to smart kitchens and self-driving cars and Artificial Intelligent (AI) in the form of smart robots, so smart, one was compelled to ask, who is in charge me or the robot.

What resonated throughout the conference is the remarkable progress China has made in her 70 years of revolutionary existence, progress, physical and sociological, no other countries have achieved in recent history. China started on 1 October 1949 at ground zero – miserable poverty, famine, epidemic diseases, education and health services were few and far in between and of low quality, essential medication was largely absent – all the result of centuries of western and Japanese colonization, exploitation and esclavisation.

From that abysmal level, thanks to Chairman Mao’s two-pronged Revolution, starting with what he called The Great Leap Forward (1958 – 1962), a Communist Party of China (CPC) led social and economic campaign converting rural agrarian areas into a socialist industrialized economy through communal farming and agricultural cooperatives. As was to be expected, this 4-year effort was constantly attacked by infiltrated anticommunist saboteurs at a high social and economic cost for China. “The Great Leap” was followed by the ten-year Cultural Revolution (1966 – 1976), aiming at cleansing China from infiltrated, foreign paid capitalist elements and influences.

These capitalist assets had only one goal: Breaking the revolution and its spirit at an early stage and returning China to the western usurpers. They definitely did not want China to flourish under her own political, communist values and believes. Lest China might become an example for the rest of the world to the detriment of western oligarchs and colonialists.

Foreign meddling in China’s early stages of Chairman Mao’s Revolution, as well as now, bears a huge cost for China. Therefore, portraying China’s Revolution as a failure, was a typical western lie-propaganda campaign. It also served to hide the west’s own disastrous economic and geopolitical failures around the globe. Propaganda converts lies to the truth in complacent societies. This is what’s happening today more than ever in the west.

From the perspective of the Chinese reality, Mao’s Revolution and the subsequent evolution have improved life in China like no other movements or reforms in China’s recent history. It created a public education and health system, eradicating analphabetism, as well as deadly endemic diseases. Alleviation of poverty being a prime-focus of Mao’s Revolution, it has lifted about 800 billion people out of poverty, thereby generating a better equilibrium in the nation’s wellbeing. It laid the groundwork for Chinese scholars to advance China towards food self-sufficiency – which she attained in 2018.

Today, China’s progress in research, science and technology keeps advancing at an incredible speed. Advancements include transport infrastructure, public transportation systems, like high-speed Maglev (magnetic levitation) trains that have largely surpassed European and even Japanese systems in speed, punctuality and comfort.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being promoted and advanced through a newly developed US$ 2.1 billion AI industrial park. AI is already today used in manufacturing, in ports’ loading facilities, as well as in medicine, even in surgery. AI is also used in 3D printing. It is expected that within 15 – 20 years the vast majority of Chinese will have access to 3D printing. In other words, they will have the possibility to invent and produce new tools and products, as well as building, modifying and repairing their own homes home-based infrastructure – and, of course, much more.

To summarize China’s progress, the observations of a high-ranking Beijing University Professor may be indicative. When he first experienced London’s ‘tube’ (subway) system in the early sixties, he thought this was a dream for China. Fifty years on China’s underground transport system in urban agglomerations has largely surpassed the one of major western cities, in speed ease of access, cleanliness and discipline.

The focus of a “Shared Future for Mankind” Forum was, of course President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), potentially the bridge that spans the world. The BRI has become essentially China’s Foreign Policy guiding vehicle. And rightly so. Because it could indeed propel the world towards more harmony, more peaceful cooperation – cooperation with socioeconomic benefits for all. BRI has currently some 160 members-countries and international organizations and is steadily growing, including in what might well be considered ‘adversary’ countries, like many in Europe.

China is practicing a stable and secure monetary policy. Unlike western currencies, the Yuan is backed by a solid economy and by gold.

While for some strange reasons, Europe, the EU, still seems to be obliged to follow Washington’s dictate, there is an increasing awakening, namely that the most logical and most beneficial way for all to do business is across the huge transcontinental area of Eurasia – which also includes the Middle East, where BRI, through joint ventures, could become an instrument for conflict resolution. After all, hundreds of years before the British Empire moved across the Atlantic to North America, gigantic Eurasia was the normal trading ground for adjacent as well as more distant countries. Russia and the Far East were linked up with Western Europe. Today, going back to this principle, would be a giant step forward – away from ever-belligerent and coercive relations with an aggressive and destructive Anglo-American empire. We may eventually get there.

Indeed, in the context of BRI, economic growth was also on the table. China’s rapid decline from years of 11% and 12% growth to now 5% to 7% was a concern. Is China’s economy going into a slump, is it failing – what happens? – Was a worrying question, if not spoken then inferred by innuendo. The response is rather simple. China’s rapid and enormous growth was mostly accumulating along the eastern, highly urbanized shores, creating a development gap with the Chinese eastern countryside.

A planned reduction of growth allows for a more even distribution, a more horizontal than vertical growth, meaning addressing more social and locally focused development, something China can do, because her public banking system works for the benefit of the people not for some far-away shareholders – and it is less bound to the use of natural resources. Mind you, a 5% or even 4% growth is still a multiple of the west’s average. Besides, growth is a linear western capitalist indicator, focused on ever-more capital accumulations for ever-fewer people and corporations.

China today is the world’s second largest economy in absolute GDP terms (US$ 14.3 trillion, 2019 est.), projected to bypass the US (US$ 21.3 trillion, 2019 est.) by 2025, or earlier. But measured by Purchasing Power Parity (PPP), China is already today the world’s number one economy. Indeed, PPP is the only meaningful indicator. What counts in the end is how much can you buy in your country with your economic output. Everything else is (almost) irrelevant.

In addition, China is practicing a stable and secure monetary policy. Unlike western currencies, the Yuan is backed by a solid economy and by gold. In 2017 the Yuan was officially admitted into the basket of the IMF’s SDR (Special Drawing Right) which contains the US-dollar (41.73%), Euro (30.93%), Chinese Yuan (10.92%), Japanese Yen (8.33%) and the British pound (8.09%). By having been admitted into the SDR basket, China has become officially a reserve currency and is actually rapidly replacing the dollar as a world reserve currency. The world increasingly recognizes that the dollar is, like its younger cousin, the euro, is but fiat money, meaning based on nothing, other than debt, because it is indiscriminately printed or computer generated as needed, amounting to a colossal pyramid or Ponzi scheme.

The current US debt to GDP ratio is about 105%. However, what the US General Accounting Office calls “unmet obligations” amounts to more than 700% of GDP (net present value of total outstanding obligations discounted to today’s value). According to former Federal Reserve Chairman, Alan Greenspan, responding to a journalist’s question, “we will never pay back our debt; we will just print new money”.

The gigantic amount of US-dollars flooding the world, estimated at more than 50% of total convertible money, compares to less than 3% of the Chinese Yuan. No matter, treasurers around the globe increasingly realize that a Yuan-based reserve is worth more than one based on fiat US-dollar nominated assets.

In conclusion, this first of its kind CASS-organized Conference provided for an excellent stock-taking and for a vision ahead. It presented many ideas and offered myriad opportunities for networking among think-alikes and potential partners. What is, however, key to success is that this effort does not stand alone, that there will be a follow-up to monitor and register what may have emerged of the ideas and proposals put forward at the Forum and how new initiatives may be solidified.

While the west remains stagnant, self-centered and self-concerned, China, and with her, her eastern allies, Russia, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), open up to new ideas, to the world in general. They offer to connect — the west could learn a tremendous amount of wisdom from China. But, of course, this may not be written or said aloud. The dominant west would never admit such truth, for it would require the west to abandon a never-ending war economy and to also seek peace and harmonious relations in a multi-polar world – to attain a Shared Future for Mankind.

Steps You Can Take in Order to Avoid Christmas Debt this Season

Christmas time, mistletoe and wine, piles of bills that come in January and result in spiralling debt. Not so festive, is it? And not just because it doesn’t rhyme.

In the UK, as many as 7.9 million people admit that they’re likely to struggle with their finances come January, and that they even predict they’re going to fall behind on bills after overindulging over the festive season. But why do people do it, and how can they avoid it?

A lot of people feel under pressure to spend and impress at Christmas time, and this is why they end up in so much money trouble come January – however there are ways of enjoying the holidays without doing so. Here are some of the steps you can take in order to avoid Christmas debt this season.

Look for a Cheaper Deal

Christmas is expensive, sure, but have you ever considered that shopping around for a cheaper deal could make the world of difference?

You never know how a little bit of research could save your bank account. If you were looking to sell your house without spending a fortune, what would you do? You’d go online, and look for the cheapest ways of doing so – and if you did this, you’d sharp find companies like Ready Steady Sell house buyers who offer a cheap and hassle free quick sale service.

Of course, the sell house fast stuff is just an example, but the point stands for anything! So many shops sell the same stuff, for the same quality – but you’ll bet that they all differ in price. So shop around this holiday season, and figure out what savings you could make. You might be pleasantly surprised at how much less you need to spend.

Make a Budget, and Stick to it

Yep, we’ve used the word budget – and there’s no need to recoil, or disregard it!

The term budget is often ostracised, and connotes not only saving money, but living on the bare minimum – yet this couldn’t be further from the truth! The term budget simply means setting a price, and sticking to it. It’s as easy as that.

So when it comes to Christmas, plan ahead. Note down the maximum amount you can afford to spend on each individual item, and then come up with an overall figure. This overall figure has to be something that you can feasibly afford without having to lend money or take out loans. It should also be something you don’t have to suffer for, so be mindful of this when figuring it out.

Of course, doing all of this work is pointless if you’re not going to stick to it – so make sure you do! You’ll thank us come January.

Shop Online

Christmas shopping is a pain. There, we said it. It might SOUND like a nice idea, but after several hours of traipsing round a shopping centre with tonnes of weight in bags and dealing with rude people, you’re bound to change your mind. Consider doing your shopping online this year for more reason than one.

Not only is shopping online faster and easier, but it’s cheaper too! The shops strategically lay out their floors’ formation with deals in order to get you to spend more – which is clever on their behalf, but not so great for you. It’s always easy to pick up unnecessary items in the shop too, whereas online people don’t tend to do this as much.

Plus, did you know that there are deals available online that would never be promoted in store? That’s right, websites pretty much always have the best deals available when it comes to shopping, so give online a go this year. Whether it be food or presents, you can’t go wrong.

Suggest a Family Secret Santa

Other than buying for the kids in the family, suggest that amongst the adults you try something different this year.

Finally, we recommend going secret Santa this year. It’s a fun tradition, and it means you only have to buy for one person. This takes the strain off, both financially and mentally, of having to buy for a long list of people. Plus, there’s usually a spending cap, which means it’s fair for everybody!

Chances are your family will love the idea! It’ll make things far easier for everybody involved, and means that when it comes down to the 25th, you can just enjoy the day. After all, isn’t that what it’s all about?

Carbon dioxide: From Villain to Asset

By Rowena Sellens

Sustainable investment is on the rise. With discussions about how to tackle climate change dominating policy across the globe, the attention of investors is now turning to the technologies that are presenting viable solutions to climate change. Carbon dioxide might seem an unlikely place to invest. However, with recent parliamentary reports suggesting that adoption of CCUS (carbon capture, utilization and storage) technologies by businesses and governments alike is essential for hitting net-zero carbon targets, we are now on the verge of a shift in perceptions. Carbon dioxide is being transformed from villain of the climate crisis to an asset. CCUS technology creates world-changing solutions that address climate change and accelerate the global transition to carbon neutrality, reversing human impact on the climate. It is based on unique solid sorbents and it’s scalable, eco-friendly, and commercially available today.

Policymakers are at last recognising CCUS’s potential for helping to tackle climate change. Most notably for the UK, the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) committee stated in a report earlier this year that implementing CCUS technology is imperative if we want to meet climate change targets at minimum cost. The report forecasts that the UK will spend 1-2% of its GDP every year (equating to an eye-watering £30-60 billion annually for 30 years) to meet the UK’s net zero carbon goal by 2050. Ignoring the potential of CCUS would be a costly mistake. Concluding that these technologies are ‘crucial’ to the 2050 net zero emissions target, the BEIS report also voiced surprise that, despite the fact that the UK is considered to have one of the most favourable environments globally for CCUS technology, policy support has, to date, been unstable. The report marked a welcome clarification of support for CCUS technology and called on businesses to invest sooner rather than later.

The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) committee stated in a report earlier this year that implementing CCUS technology is imperative if we want to meet climate change targets at minimum cost.

Following the renewed support for CCUS, the Government also recently announced funding for the UK’s biggest carbon capture project, set to be built by Tata Chemicals Europe in Cheshire. The funding represents a long overdue move from the UK to use carbon capture on a commercial scale: the first project of such a scale was the Sleipner gas field project in Norway, back in 1996. Indeed, globally, some countries are more advanced in their support of CCU than others; Canada, for instance, has funnelled substantial investment into accelerating its carbon economy.

But it is not only the UK government who are waking up to the potential of CCUS as a solution to the climate crisis we are facing: the former U.S. Secretary of Energy and President and CEO of Energy Futures Initiative, Ernest Moniz, lead a keynote address at New York’s Climate Week in September, on how carbon removal technology is, in fact, a must-have for the climate. Policy experts and entrepreneurs warned that a rapid uptake of carbon capture technologies is necessary if we are to seize the window of opportunity for combatting climate change. The discussion at Climate Week, in a convergence of global leaders and industry experts, represents a broader recognition of carbon dioxide as an asset.

There is now a growing recognition that the technologies that enable businesses to make use of carbon dioxide as a commercially viable resource are in fact already a reality. One such company that uses innovative technology to reduce emissions is ClimeWorks, which has pioneered technology to capture and purify carbon dioxide from the air before using it as a resource in the food and agriculture industries. Indeed, applications of this long-lambasted compound as a valuable waste product are vast: Deep Branch Bio have found use for carbon in making sustainable protein feed for animals. Meanwhile, CarbonCure technologies capture recycled carbon dioxide to improve the manufacturing process of concrete. Carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) can provide a host of environmental, economic and performance benefits across industry lines.

Beyond these applications, CCU technologies are also transforming the polyurethane industry. For instance, the catalyst technology developed by Econic Technologies uses carbon dioxide as a raw material in the manufacture of polyols, the building blocks of the widely used polyurethane. Whether in the insulation of our homes and fridges, in the elastomers useful in off-shore applications and the transportation industry, or even in the soles of our trainers, polyurethane is a material that features in our everyday lives. The potential impact of this technology is wide-reaching, especially given the global polyol market is valued at $24 billion. Not only are products made with this technology helping to address the climate crisis – potentially saving the equivalent of over two million cars’ worth of emissions per year – but they also demonstrate performances benefits too, such as reduced flammability, improved strength, and scratch resistance.

With the business case for CCU technology presenting advantages across a range of industry sectors, consumers are also piling the pressure on businesses to make sustainable investment choices. As climate change has risen to the forefront of news agendas, consumers are increasingly viewing sustainability as an essential consideration rather than an optional extra. A growing consumer awareness of the importance of sustainability was reflected in a recent report by Nielsen, in which 66% of consumers said they would be willing to fork out more for sustainable products. This figure rises to 72% amongst millennials.

However, as the issue of sustainability gains greater media traction, so too does the prevalence of greenwashing: the practice of promoting false green credentials. With the chair of the International Accounting Standards Board declaring greenwashing is ‘rampant’, investors should be wise to the risk that their sustainability endeavours could be inadvertently undermined. Sweeping claims of sustainability must be held up to the light: leaders must go further than glossy credentials, and prove their dedication to environmental change with tangible actions. It is the task of investors to scrutinise, as well as for CEOs to justify the sustainable practices of their businesses in the fight against the tide of greenwashing.

Recognising the potential of carbon dioxide, rather than dismissing it merely as a villain, is essential in taking action against climate change. Opening eyes to the possibilities offered by CCU technologies is a much-needed step forward to provide tangible ways of not only reducing emissions, but also in turning this waste by-product into an asset for a multitude of industries. With world leaders and industry experts sparking an awareness of the range of economic and environmental benefits of utilising carbon dioxide, it is not too late to tackle our climate crisis. Carbon dioxide could just be the next big investment opportunity for those truly concerned about the long-term sustainable solutions to climate change.

Everything You Need To Know About Being A Real Estate Agent

Becoming a real estate agent can open many doors for you in terms of career opportunities. You can choose to work full-time or part-time, or in the residential or commercial market. You may start out working for a small firm, and progress to running your very own firm with other agents.

In this article, we look at some of the essential things you need to know about being a successful real estate agent.

You Need a License

Most states require that you have a real estate agent license to represent buyers and sellers in real estate transactions. To qualify for the license, you have to take either the state or national real estate courses.

You may take the real estate course online or in a traditional classroom setting. The duration of the course varies from state to state. Once you complete the course, you’ll need to take a pre-licensing exam. You have to pass the exam before you can apply for your real estate agent license.

Get Affiliated With a Brokerage

In most states, real estate agents must be affiliated with a licensed real estate broker. There are many brokers out there. Be sure to look for a reputable one.

Finding the answers to the following questions will help you make a sound decision:

  • What was the experience of the bundaberg real estate agents and clients that have worked with your prospective broker?
  • How long will it take you to start earning commissions when working with the broker?
  • What is the broker’s commission structure?
  • Does the broker require any additional education?
  • Will the broker assign you a mentor while in training?

Have The Right Character Traits

To succeed as a real estate agent, you should be honest, confident, and gifted with speech. Confidence, for example, can come in handy during tense negotiations. You must identify the areas where you are weak.

You want to work on these areas early before you get deep into the career. Fortunately, honesty comes typically quite naturally. You can refine the other areas of weakness with proper training. You can even consider taking public speaking classes to improve your skills.

Communication-based classes and webinars will help you practice delivering your speech with more confidence. Trainers also include presentation techniques such as storytelling and engaging the audience by fostering context. Storytelling coaching and training programs for real estate agents will prepare professionals to manage difficult questions and conflicts. As a result, they will be better able to sell properties and build long-term relationships with clients.

You’re Going to Need a Plan

Many newly licensed real estate agents don’t make it beyond their first commission check. The primary reason for their failure is the lack of proper planning.

It is vital to set clear goals and prepare a business plan and develop a marketing strategy to be successful. A proper plan should include metrics and daily activities that are geared to help you achieve your objectives. If you’re hoping to start your own business, it’s essential that you understand the structure of a real estate team and how to build one.

Continuing Education

To stay up to date with the latest information, and to learn from others, consider joining trade groups. These groups provide continuing education courses and networking opportunities. These will help enrich your skillset and allow you to serve your clients better.

Final Thoughts

If you are looking to become a real estate agent, you should realize there are educational and registration requirements you must fulfill. You also should be a person of integrity as well as a master at planning to succeed in the real estate market.

China Breaks the Western Debt Stranglehold on the World

By Peter Koenig

The west has colonized, exploited, ravaged and assassinated the people of the Global South for hundreds of years. Up to the mid-20th Century Europe has occupied Africa, and large parts of Asia.

In Latin America, though much of the sub-Continent was “freed” from Spain and Portugal in the 19th Century – a new kind of colonization followed by the new Empire of the United States – under the so-called Monroe Doctrine, named after President James Monroe (1817 -1825), forbidding Europeans to interfere in any “American territory”. Latin America was then and is again today considered Washington’s Backyard.

In the last ten years or so, Washington has launched the Monreo Doctrine 2.0. This time expanding the interference policy beyond Europe – to the world. Democratic sovereign governments in Latin America that could choose freely their political and economic alliances in the world are not tolerated. China, entering into partnership agreements with Latin American countries, sought after vividly by the latter – is condemned by the US and the west, especially vassalic Europe.

Therefore, democratically elected center-left governments had to be “regime-changed’ – Honduras, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Brazil, Peru, Paraguay. So far, they stumbled over Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua – and maybe Mexico.

Venezuela and Cuba are being economically strangled to exhaustion. But they are standing tall as pillars in defending the Latin American Continent – with economic assistance and military advice from China and Russia.

Latin America is waking up – and so is Africa.

In Latin America, street protests against the US / IMF imposed debt trap and de consequential austerity programs, making the rich richer and the poor poorer, are raging in Honduras, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina and even in Brazil. In Argentina, in a democratic election this past weekend, 27 October, the people deposed neoliberal President Macri. He was put in the Presidency via “tricked” elections by Washington in 2015. Macri ruined the prosperous country in his 4 year-reign. He privatized public services and infrastructure, education, health, transportation – and more, leading to hefty tariff increases, worker layoffs, unemployment and poverty. Poverty, at about 15% in 2015, when Macri took office, soared to over 40% in October 2019.

In 2018 Macri contracted the largest ever IMF loan of US$ 57.2 billion – a debt trap, if there was ever one. The new, just elected Fernandez-Fernandez center-left Government will have to devise programs to counter the impact of this massive debt.

All over in Latin America, people have had enough of the US / western imposed austerity and simultaneous exploitation of their natural resources. They want change – big style. They seek to detach from the economic and financial stranglehold of the west. They are looking for China and Russia as new partners in trade and in financial contracts.

The same in Africa – neocolonialism by the west, mostly France and the UK, through financial oppression, unfair trading deals and wester imposed – and militarily protected – despotic and corrupt leaders, has kept Africa poor and desolate after more than 50 years of so-called Independence. Africa is arguably still the Continent with the most natural resources the west covets and needs to preserve its luxury life style and continuous armament.

People, who do not conform, especially younger politicians and economists, who protest and speak out, because they see clearly through the western imposed economic crimes committed on a daily basis, are simply assassinated or otherwise silenced.

Africans are quietly seeking to move out of the claws of the west, seeking new relations with China and Russia. The recent Russian-African summit in Sochi was a vivid example.

China is invited to build infrastructure, fast trains, roads, ports and industrial parks – and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is more than welcomed in Africa, as it projects common and equal development for all to benefit. BRI is the epitome for building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind. China also offers a gradual release from the US / western dominated dollar-debt claws. Freeing a country from the dollar-based economy, is freeing it from the vulnerability of US / western imposed sanctions. This is an enormous relief that literally every country of the Global South – and possibly even Europe – is hoping for.

However, as could be expected, the west, led by the US of A, is pouncing China for engaging in “debt trap diplomacy” (https://www.rt.com/op-ed/472185-china-debt-trap-diplomacy-debunked/?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=Email ). Exactly the contrary of what is actually happening.

The truth is, though, countries throughout the world, be it in Africa, Asia, South Pacific and Latin America, are choosing to partner with China by their free will. According to a statement by a high-level African politician “China does not force or coerce us into a deal, we are free to choose and negotiate a win-win situation.” – That says it all.

The difference between the west and east is stark. While anybody and any country that does not agree with the US dictate and doctrine, risks being regime-changed or bombed, China does not impose her new Silk Road – the BRI – to any country. China invites, respecting national sovereignty. Who wants to join is welcome to do so. That applies as much to the Global South, as it does to Europe.

China’s President Xi Jinping launched the BRI in 2013. In 2014 Mr. Xi visited Madame Merkel in Germany, offering her to be at that time the western-most link to the BRI. Ms. Merkel under the spell of Washington, declined. President Xi returned and China continued working quietly on this fabulous worldwide economic development project – BRI – THE economic venture of the 21st Century, so massive that it was incorporated in 2017 into the Chinese Constitution.

It took the west however 6 years to acknowledge this new version of the more than 2000-year-old Silk Road. Only in 2019, the western mainstream media started reporting on the BRI – and always negatively, of course. The preaching was and still is – beware of the Chinese Dragon, they will dominate you and everything you own with their socialism.

This train of thought is typically western. Aggression seems to be in the genes of western societies, of western culture, as the hundreds of years of violent and despotic colonization and exploitation – and ongoing – are proving. Does it have to do with western monotheistic doctrines? – This is pure speculation, of course.

Again, the truth is multi-fold. First, China does not have a history of invasion. China seeks a peaceful and egalitarian development of trade, science and foremost human wellbeing – a Tao tradition of non-aggression. Second, despite the “warnings” from the throne of the falling empire, about a hundred countries have already subscribed to participate in BRI – and that voluntarily. And third, China and Russia and along with them the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) are in a solid economic and defense alliance which encompasses close to half of the world population and represents about one third of the globes total economic output.

Hence, SCO members are – or may be, if they so choose – largely detached from the dollar hegemony. The western privately run and Wall Street controlled monetary transfer system, SWIFT, is no longer needed by SCO countries. They deal in local currencies and / or through the Chinese Interbank Payment System (CIPS).

It is no secret, that the empire, headquartered in Washington, is gradually decaying, economically as well as militarily. It’s just a matter of time. How much time, is difficult to guess. But Washington’s everyday behavior of dishing out sanctions left and right, disrupting international monetary transactions, confiscating and stealing other countries assets around the world, puts ever more nails in the Empire’s coffin. By doing this, America is herself committing economic and monetary suicide. Who wants to belong to a monetary system that can act willy-nilly to a county’s detriment? There is no need for outside help for this US-sponsored pyramid fiat monetary system to fall. It’s a house of cards that is already crumbling by its own weight.

The US dollar was some 20-25 years ago still to the tune of 90% the domineering reserve currency in the world. Today that proportion has declined to less than 60% – and falling. It is being replaced primarily by the Chinese yuan as the new reserve currency.

This is what the US-initiated trade war is all about – discrediting the yuan, a solid currency, based on China’s economy – and on gold. “Sanctioning” the Chinese economy with US tariffs, is supposed to hurt the yuan, to reduce its competition with the dollar as a world reserve currency. To no avail. The yuan is a worldwide recognized solid currency, the currency of the world’s second largest economy. By some standards, like accounted by PPP (Purchasing Power Parity), the most important socioeconomic indicator for mankind, China is since 2017 the world’s number one economy.

This, and other constant attacks by Washington, is a typical desperate gesture of a dying beast – thrashing wildly left and right and above and below around itself to bring down into its grave as many perceived adversaries as possible. There is of course a clear danger that this fight for the empire’s survival might end nuclear – god forbid!

China’s and Russia’s policy, philosophy and diplomacy of non-aggression may save the world from extinction – including the people of the United States of America.

Bolivia – A Color Revolution – or a New Surge for Latin American Independence?

By Peter Koenig

Like Túpac Katari, indigenous Aymara leader more than 200 years ago, confronting the Spaniards, Evo Morales was betrayed and ‘dismembered’ by his own people, recruited and paid by the agents of the most destructive, nefarious and murderous dark elite that governs and has governed for over two hundred years our planet, the United States of America. With their worthless fiat-Ponzi-pyramid money, the made-out-of-thin-air US dollar, they create poverty throughout the globe, then buy off the weak and poor to plot against the very leaders that have worked for years to improve their social conditions.

It’s become a classic. It’s being called a Color Revolution, and it’s been taking place on all Continents. The list of victim-countries includes, but is not exhaustive – Colombia, Honduras, Argentina, Paraguay, Ecuador, Chile, Brazil, in some ways also Uruguay (the current left-leaning government is powerless and has to remain so, otherwise it will be “changed”… that’s the name of the game) – and now also Bolivia. – Then there are Georgia, Ukraine, Iraq, South Sudan, Libya, Afghanistan, Indonesia; and the lawless rulers of the universe are attempting to “regime change” North Korea, Syria, Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua – and on a larger scale China and Russia (I just returned from China – where the Government and people are fully aware what Washington’s intentions are behind every move they make).

In Africa, Africom, the US military Africa Command, buys off almost every corrupt African leader put in place by Africa’s former and new European colonialists, so they may continue sucking the riches out of Africa. These African leaders backed by Africom keep the African population in check, so they will not stand up. In case they won’t quite manage, “they” created the fear-squad called, Boko Haram, an off-spring of ISIS / IS – the Islamic State, created by the same creator, the CIA, Pentagon and NATO. The latter represents the European US-puppet allies; they keep raping Africa and reaping the benefits of her plentiful natural resources, and foremost, make sure that Africans stay subdued and quiet. Those who don’t may easily be “disappeared”. It’s Arica. But, have “they” noticed, Africa is moving, is gradually waking up?

And yes, not to forget, the “developed” and industrialized Europe, where sophisticated “regime change” over the years has subdued a largely well-off population, numbed and made apathetic by endless pro-capitalist propaganda and consumerism – Germany, UK, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, France, Italy, Spain – look what they have done to Greece! – Greece has become a red-flag warning for every EU nation that may dare to step out of US-dictated lockstep, of what might happen to them.

The list goes on with Eastern European EU countries, mostly former Soviet republics or Soviet satellites. They are EU members thanks to the UK, Washington’s mole in the EU, or as I like to call it – the European non-union – no Constitution, no solidarity, no common vision. They are all fiercely anti-Russia and most are also anti-Europe, but are made to – and love to eat and drink from the bowl of the EU-handouts, compliments of EU taxpayers. That’s about the state of the affairs we are in. There is, of course, much more coercion going on, but you get the picture. US interference is endless, merciless, reckless, without scruples and deadly.

Process of Color Revolution is always more or less the same – a long preparation period. The coup d’état against Evo has been under preparation for years.

Bolivia is just the latest victim. The process of Color Revolution is always more or less the same – a long preparation period. The coup d’état against Evo has been under preparation for years. It began already before Evo was first elected, when Washington realized that after the Bolivian people’s purging of two of Washington’s imposed “stooges” Presidents, in 2003 and 2005, Bolivia needed a respite. But the empire never gives up. That is a golden rule written in their unofficial Constitution, the PNAC (Plan for a New American Century), the writing of which has begun just after WWII, is regularly adjusted and updated, even name-changed (from Pax Americana to PNAC), but is still very much alive and ticking.

The coup against Evo Morales’ Government is not only because Washington does not tolerate any socialist government, and least in its “backyard”, but also – and maybe foremost – because of Bolivia’s riches in natural resources, gas, oil, a long list of minerals and metals – and lithium, the use of which is expected to triple over the next ten years, as it is used in electric cars and batteries. And as we know from the rapidly growing Green Movement, the future is out of hydrocarbon-driven into electric cars. No matter how the electricity is produced and how much environmental damage is done in producing the new flag, but still individual ‘mobility’. As neoliberal economists would say, “that’s just an externality”.

The first of the two US-imposed Presidents at the turn of the century, was Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada, also called “Goni”, who privatized Bolivia’s rich hydrocarbon resources to foreign, mostly US, petro-corporations for a pittance. He was “elected” in 2002 against the indigenous, Aymara candidate, Evo Morales. When Goni was disposed of in a bloody people’s coup (about 60 dead) in 2003, he was replaced by his Vice-President, Carlos Mesa, the very key opponent of Evo’s, in the 20 October 2019 elections – who, following the same line of Goni’s privatization policies, was also overthrown by the Bolivian people in 2005. This led to a new election late in 2005 – and that’s when Evo finally won by a landslide and started his Presidency in January 2006.

What he has achieved in his almost 14 years of Presidency is just remarkable – more than significant reductions of poverty, unemployment, analphabetism, increase in health indicators, in national reserves, in minimum wages, pension benefits, affordable housing – in general wellbeing, or as Evo calls it, “living well”.

That’s when Washington decided to step back for a while – and regroup, to hit again in an appropriate moment. This moment was the election three weeks ago. Preparation for the coup intensified a few months before, when Bolivia’s Vice-President, Álvaro Marcelo García Linera, told the media that every day there were reports that US Embassy agents were interfering in the country’s internal and local affairs.

The manipulated election in 2002 is recorded in an outstanding film, “Our Brand is Crisis”, a 2005 American documentary by Rachel Boynton on American political campaign marketing tactics in Bolivia by Greenberg Carville Shrum (GCS) – James Carville was previously President Clinton’s personal assistant – the documentary: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6dqysa.

Then, like today, the coup was orchestrated by the CIA via the “legitimate” body of the Organization of American States (OAS). The US Ambassador to the OAS openly boasts paying 60% of OAS’ budget – “so, better don’t mess with us”.

Less than a week before the October 20 election, Carlos Mesa was trailing Evo Morales with 22 against 38 points. Under normal circumstances it’s is virtually impossible that in a few days a candidate picks up that much of a difference. The election result was Mesa 37% and Morales 47% which would give Morales a first-round win, as the winning candidate needs a margin of ten points. However, already before the final tally was in, the OAS, the US and the usual puppets, the European Union, complained about election ‘irregularities’ – when the only irregularities were manufactured in the first place, namely the drastic increase in Mesa’s percentage from 22 to 37 points.

Evo declared himself the winner on 20 October, followed immediately by violent anti-Evo riots throughout the country, but mostly in the oil-rich Santa Cruz area – home of Bolivia’s oligarchs and elite. The protests lasted for about three weeks during which at least three people died, when last Sunday, November 10, Evo was “suggested” by the military brass, supported by the OAS (US) to step down with his entire entourage, or else. He resigned, because he wanted the riots to stop and his countrymen to continue living in peace. But violence hasn’t stopped, to the contrary, the opposition has become fiercer in their racist attacks on indigenous people, targeting them with live ammunition. The dead toll as of today has reached at least 20.

President Morales asked for, and was granted political asylum in Mexico. The Vice-President, Alvaro Linera, and most of Morales’ cabinet members followed him to Mexico. The President of the Senate, Ms. Adriana Salvatierra, also of the MAS party, according to the Constitution, would have been the legitimate interim-President. But she was also forced to resign, and so were Victor Borda, the leader of the Chamber, and Rubén Medinaceli, First Vice President of the Senate. They all had to resign. In total some 20 high-ranking officials of Evo’s Government took refuge in the Mexican Embassy in La Paz, before they flew to Mexico.

Evo has since said he wants to return to Bolivia, to be there for the millions of his supporters. Yes, still a sizable majority of Bolivians support Evo and his Movement towards Socialism (MAS). There is a mass of peaceful unarmed Evo supporting demonstrators, growing every day. They are being brutally beaten by US trained and “bought” police and military forces. Indeed, the commander of Bolivia’s armed forces, Williams Kaliman, served in earlier days as a military attaché at the Bolivian Embassy in Washington. During that time he was secretly ‘recruited’ to be trained by what then was called the School of the Americas, and which is now the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation, located at Fort Benning near Columbus, Georgia. Apparently Kaliman was not the only one of high-ranking Bolivian military and police officers having been subjected to this torturer and coup plotter training.

On Tuesday, 12 November, an extraordinary session of both chambers (Deputies and Senate) of the Plurinational Legislative Assembly (Parliament) was convened, to officially accept President Morales’ resignation, but the representatives of the Movement to Socialism (MAS), which are the majority in both chambers, did not attend because they were told by the opposition that their safety and that of their families could not be guaranteed. As a consequence, Parliament had suspended its session due to the lack of quorum.

Nevertheless, Jeanine Añez, an opposition senator, declared herself interim-President, and even though her nomination is illegal and unconstitutional, the Constitutional Court confirmed the legality of the transfer of power. But who could blame the judges of the Constitutional Court? They want to be on the right side of the fence, now that the Americans are soon expected to rule the country. Ms. Añez is from the right-wing Social Democrat Movement (not to confuse with MAS = movement towards socialism), and she is known to be fiercely anti-Morales. If her coronation looks and sounds like the one of Juan Guaidó in Venezuela, it is because her self-nomination is like Juan Guido’s, a US-supported farce. Washington has immediately recognized Ms. Jeanine Añez as (interim) President of Bolivia. She, as well as Carlos Mesa, have been groomed to become the next Bolivian leaders, when new elections are held – probably sometime in January 2020. Especially, Carlos Mesa is well known as a US-supporter from his earlier failed stint at the Bolivian Presidency (2003 – 2005).

Earlier, Jeanine Añez, tweeted, “I dream of a Bolivia free of satanic indigenous rites, the city is not for the Indians who should stay in the highlands or the Chaco”. That says it all, where Bolivia is headed, unless – unless another people’s revolution will stop this nefarious course. Ms. Añez apparently has since removed the tweet.

One of the internal drivers of the ‘golpe’ is Luis Fernando Camacho, a far-right multi-millionaire, from the Santa Cruz region, where the US have supported and encouraged separatism. Camacho, a religious bible fanatic, received support from Colombia, Brazil and the Venezuelan opposition – and, of course, he is the US henchman to lead the ‘coup’ internally.

Bolivians are known to be sturdy and staunch defenders of their rights. They have proven that best in the overthrow of two foreign-imposed successive Presidents in 2003 and 2005, “Goni” and Carlos Mesa respectively.

As Max Blumenthal from “The Grayzone” reports, When Luis Fernando Camacho stormed into Bolivia’s abandoned presidential palace in the hours after President Evo Morales’s sudden November 10 resignation, he revealed to the world a side of the country that stood at stark odds with the plurinational spirit its deposed socialist and Indigenous leader had put forward. – With a Bible in one hand and a national flag in the other, Camacho bowed his head in prayer above the presidential seal, fulfilling his vow to purge his country’s Native heritage from government and “return God to the burned palace.” Camacho added “Pachamama will never return to the palace,” referring to the Andean Mother Earth spirit. “Bolivia belongs to Christ.”

Still, there is hope. Bolivians are known to be sturdy and staunch defenders of their rights. They have proven that best in the overthrow of two foreign-imposed successive Presidents in 2003 and 2005, “Goni” and Carlos Mesa respectively. They brought their Aymaran Evo Morales to power in 2006, by an internationally observed, fully democratic election.

There are other signs in Latin America that things are no longer the way they used to be for decades. Latin Americans are sick and tired of their status of US backyard citizens. There is movement in Brazil, where Lula was just released from Prison, against the will of Brazil’s fascist also foreign, i.e. US-imposed, Jair Bolsonaro. Granted, Lula’s release from prison is temporary, but with the massive people’s support he musters, it will be difficult for Bolsonaro to put him back in prison – and preserve his Presidency.

Social upheavals in Chile for justice and equality, against a racist Pinochet era Constitution, violently oppressed by President Piñera’s police and military forces, have lasted for weeks and will not stop before a new Constitution is drafted, in which the protesters demands are largely integrated. That too is a sign for an awakening of the people. And the enduring resistance against North America’s aggression by Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, are all positive vibes for Bolivia – not to be trampled over.
