Path to His Current Position

Yury Trofimov is the managing director of the Netherlands-based Stekomijn B.V. company. He was born on March 12, 1984, and got a degree in global economics at the Academy of Foreign Trade. He is fluent in English as well as speaks French, Spanish, and Dutch.

After graduating, he began to deal with investments in general. He worked in various investment and commercial organizations. In 2014, Trofimov Yury became a vice president of a large bank. He headed the department responsible for working with key corporate clients and managed sales in the regions. He ensured the organizational development and functional restructuring of departments, and attracted new partners. As a result of his efforts, there was a 2.5-fold increase in sales of banking products. Under his leadership, a sales model for corporate clients as well as a new system of customer engagement and support were designed and implemented. 

In 2016, Yury Trofimov began to work for an international private equity fund. The team of the fund consisted of 40 professionals with $2 billion under management.

While Yury Trofimov served as the company’s chief operating officer, the fund managed to:

  • Finalize more than 30 transactions with a total value of over $1.5 billion
  • Carry out several exits from investments with positive returns
  • Attract new partners and additional funding
  • Form a strong private equity team.

He has established himself as a professional with a deep understanding of international business. Yury Trofimov is fond of sports. He is a candidate for Master of Sport in highboard diving and a regular participant in the international Oceanman swims. Moreover, he swam across San Francisco Bay from Alcatraz Island and participated in a cross-continental swim from Asia to Europe through the Bosphorus Strait.

He enjoys running and has participated in over ten international marathons — including the Chicago, Berlin, New York, and Madrid ones. He also skis, rides a bicycle, practices triathlon, and has completed the Ironman.

Trofimov Yury’s biography would be incomplete without mentioning his creative abilities. The birth of his son Leo inspired him to write a series of children’s books called Omlion and Friends. The first installment of the book saw light in Russian thanks to the EKSMO publishing house and was translated into English. It is now available for sale on Amazon and other online platforms (Aegitas). The work on the second part of the series is currently underway. The writer hopes to turn the story into a trilogy and release a cartoon based on it.

Omlion and Friends is an adventure novel for children. Its main character, a boy named Omlion, has the superpower to turn into a lion. His closest friends, Areva and Soul, are superheroes as well. Together, they embark on an exciting journey. One of the advantages of the book is that wise life lessons are woven into a fantastic plot. This harmonious combination enables young readers to better understand themselves and overcome their fears.
